What's for Lunch?

This is what my kindergartner & first grader took for lunch today.

Kid's lunches...baked potato w/ salt, 2 small cheese skewers, orange slices, & roll ups (Trader Joe's handmade whole wheat tortilla, all natural roasted red pepper hummus, freshly shredded cheese, organic spinach, tomato, organic cucumber.

We began to make the switch to all natural, chemical free, vegetarian, nonGMO foods nearly 1 year ago, but I did it in baby steps.  It wasn't until recently that I began to tackle the kid's lunches.  They love the lunches that mommy sends, and frequently tell me how their lunch was the best looking one in the cafeteria.  Awe...shucks.  This mom just loves that!  :)  Not always pictured, but my kiddos take a bottle of filtered water in every lunch.

Here are some other recent school lunch photos...

A thermos of homemade, all natural refried black beans (that i warmed on the stove), a small baggie of all natural tortilla strips, a field greens salad with a bit of all natural Caesar, 1/2 an organic apple, and a bottle of spring water.

Homemade black beans, steamed shelled edamame, cilantro lime white rice, all natural nonGMO tortilla strips, 1/2 organic apple, 1/2 organic pear

Fresh oatmeal made on the stove top & sweetened with honey, with added cinnamon and organic apple chunks; organic pb&j on organic crackers; Frozen Chobani tube & a bottle of spring water.

Orange slices, edamame, cheese skewers, mixed greens salad w/ my homemade dressing, & they will take the pictured soup (collard greens & white bean, and a bunch of other deliciousness!) in their thermoses.

Thermos of homemade vegetable (spinach, organic carrot, organic onion, tomatoes, lima beans, corn, green beans, parsley, celery), organic apple & organic pb sandwich, cheese, 2 slices of homemade French bread, salad w/organic Caesar on the side, and a bottle of filtered water.

All natural popcorn, orange slices, organic carrot sticks w/ organic peanut butter, plain organic yogurt w/ homemade organic berry sauce & honey, whole organic pear, & whole banana.

A whole TJ handmade whole wheat tortilla, shredded cheese, frozen organic pizza sauce, 1/2 an organic pear, & a frozen Greek yogurt tube.

1st grader-1 slice of organic multi seed bread w/butter, fresh sliced pineapple tidbits, organic ants on a log w/dates, homemade pinto beans & organic plain yogurt w/ homemade organic berry sauce to stir in. Kindergartener-2 squares of homemade organic cornbread, fresh cut pineapple tidbits, Swiss cheese skewers, homemade pinto beans, & plain organic yogurt w/ homemade organic berry sauce. :)

Taco salads-black beans seasoned w/my own taco seasoning, green leaf lettuce, nonGMO tortilla strips, homemade Spanish rice, diced tomatoes, & oranges. Yum!

Homemade pizza "lunchables". Homemade flatbread wedges, fresh grated provolone, all natural pizza sauce (frozen in individual portions in a mini muffin pan-will thaw by lunch), tossed salad w/ organic Caesar on the side, 1/2 an organic apple, & filtered water.

Frozen Chobani Champions tubes, brown rice, organic carrot sticks w/ a cup of organic pb, 1/2 a Roma tomato, 2 small cheese skewers, 1/2 an orange, & a bottle of filtered water.

Their favorite sandwiches...Great Harvest Honey Whole Wheat, romaine lettuce (they love fresh spinach, too!), all natural roasted red pepper hummus, tomato, cucumber, & cheese.  They also have a frozen Champions tube, organic popcorn, & fresh strawberries.
